Anica + Chris

Peonies in Indiana for an August wedding—does it get any better than that?! These whimsical pompom blooms are nearly impossible to get in the spring, let alone late summer! So, when Anica told me that peonies were an essential piece to her wedding day puzzle, I wasn’t really sure what to do. For this sweet bride, there were only three things that she truly needed on her wedding day:

1. To marry her perfect match, Chris

2. Soft Pretzels

Looking back, it’s no wonder why Anica and I became such good friends during the wedding planning process. She was such a fun and laid-back bride—giving me, and the rest of her vendors, so much trust in unfolding her vision. Connecting with Anica in the way that I did was such a lovely surprise—but what about her groom? Typically, I don’t see very much of the groom during the planning process, so imagine how excited I was when I got to meet Chris! It was a cold afternoon in January, and I hadn’t been having the best day. Buuut, we were meeting up at Cake Bake, so I knew only good things were to come! I mean, come on, we’re talking about Cake Bake here! As soon as I met Chris, and saw him next to Anica, I knew this couple was one of the best. The love and beauty that I witnessed between them that day continued to radiate into every corner of every moment from that second on.

As I look back on Anica and Chris’s wedding day, it’s truly amazing how all of the little details came together so seamlessly, so effortlessly. Anica got the peonies of her dreams, thanks to the ever-talented Meg Catherine. She partied the night away with those she loves the most in this world. And most importantly, she married the man of her dreams.

Side Note: Get married at the Center for the Performing Arts in Carmel—it’s breathtakingly gorgeous! Oh, and hire Rebecca Shehorn to document the day. Then, if you want a cherry on top, Jamie and Andy from Andy Slye Films will make you bawl your eyes out with whatever moments they capture on film.
